A coming together of Girl-Kinders from across the region to showcase and celebrate their creative contribution to Girl Kind. A digital gallery, music and drama performances, and displays from over 20 projects highlighted the incredible capacity and diversity of North East girls. Misjudged (2019), which was produced by a group of girls in collaboration with Young Women's Film Academy and Little Big Butterfly, also had its premier. A one off workshop focusing on comfort zones, culminating with a Tyneside Cinema screening of the very excellent and girl-centric Queen of Katwe (2016). As part of the workshop Girl Kinders produced an leaflet of advice for young women about how to feel safe, comfortable and confident, and how to help others do the same.

Workshops! Face painting! Cake! Creativity!
Over 100 guests joined us (along with circus performers, musicians and poets) to celebrate our annual event. Providing a platform for Girl Kind projects including photography, poetry and a play, we also screened the end result of the Film in a Day workshop, Whispers (2018), which can be viewed in our Gallery (click any picture to enter).

Day of the Girl Celebration

A our first celebration event for Girl Kind NE, an impact and engagement project exploring the challenges and opportunities of growing up as a girl in the North East. Our two collaborating schools joined us at Northumbria's City Centre campus to present their creative works and interventions. The film produced as part of our collaboration with Big Little Butterfly and the Young Women's Film Academy, Cleo (2017), also had its premier.
